Deep Fried Man

Once a good, Jewish boy destined to be a lawyer, after a freak accident involving a deep fat fryer mild-mannered Daniel Friedman transformed into Deep Fried Man. Sadly, this new persona came with no special powers other than the ability to write bizarre comedy songs poking fun at politics, popular culture, sex, social media and his own identity as a white South African.

So far, Deep Fried Man has somehow been able to make a living singing these songs. He has even performed at many of South Africa’s biggest comedy events (Blacks Only, Bafunny Bafunny, Kings and Queens of Comedy), won some awards (Comics Choice Awards, Standard Bank Ovation Award), appeared in a host of TV shows and films (Material, ZANews, Comedy Central Presents Divine) and is a permanent cast member on multiple Emmy-nominated satirical news show Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola.

His mother still thinks he should have studied law.

Ebenhaezer Dibakwane is a performer that has often been referred to as a clown of the people, for the people, by the people; this is, of course, a reference he has given himself. Born in Mbombela, Mpumalanga; Dibakwane provides an inordinate narrative that is attributed to his unique upbringing.

He has performed on stages in Vanderbijl Park, in Mabopane and all over Johannesburg. He has been privileged to have multiple performances at The Lighthouse in Melville, Kitchener’s in Braamfontein, O-Zone Nightclub in Soweto, The Box in Maboneng and Parker’s Comedy Club at Montecasino in Fourways.

Suhayl Essa is a 22 year old med student with a funny bone.  He began stand up comedy a year ago, performing at club gigs across Gauteng.

Suhayl is what you would call a Man's Man (Comedian, Hannes Brummer called him pretty).  Don't worry, ladies, he's straight and available.

Suhayl has made his mark on stages like the Space Theatre, The Box (Pop Art Theatre) with Goliath and Goliath, Acoustic CafĂ© featuring Trevor Gumbi, Comedy at Mishmash, Hip Hop Comedy nights at Van der Bijl park featuring Nina Hastie and Parkers Comedy Club owned by comedy veteran, Joe Parker.  Since then, he has performed across South Africa on stages in both Durban and Cape Town.

Suhayl was a semi finalist in the Parkers comedy contest "Comi-Kaze".  He hosted last year's Charity Comedy event at Wits Medical School.  Suhayl opened for Riaad Moosa's one man show "Doctor's Orders" in Lenasia, Gauteng.

As a newcomer, he finds that comedy is a creative outlet to express himself and entertain people at the same time. In spite of his education, Suhayl Essa believes that laughter is the best medicine.
